Get the Music Festival Look!

on May 3, 2018

dsc_5475
It’s that time again! The time for flower crowns, flowy dresses, and strappy sandals; it’s music festival season! Although we’re not all lucky enough to attend the actual festivals, here are four ways to dress like you are—because that’s almost the same thing, right? 😉

dsc_2498
1. Florals: While flower crowns aren’t exactly practical for everyday use, but florals certainly are. Florals scream springtime and add personality to any outfit. They also give off a casual and fun vibe, which is what music festivals are all about.

2. Jewelry: Jewelry is an underrated part of the ‘Music Festival Outfit.’ However, when done right, it can add so much to the look. When choosing the right jewelry for your look, we suggest you go for earthy colors and stones, such as turquoise and amber, or add a fun element to your outfit with delicate gold pieces.

3. Flow-y clothes: When it comes to dressing like you’re at any of the top music festivals, you should definitely go with the flow! Look for loose fitting dresses, tops, and bottoms to achieve the look.

4. Hairstyles: Hair is also an important part of your overall music festival look. Even with the right clothes, the look is not complete without a fitting hairstyle. While there are a wide variety of music-festival hairstyles, many people tend to go with soft waves or a messy braid.

Many of us aren’t able to make it to the actual festivals, but there are still ways to incorporate their defining details into our everyday attire.

And no matter what, remember to wear what works best for you and to have fun with it!

Velvet Sandals. A block heel or flat velvet sandal is great for the office or daytime activities and perfect for parties and nights out! Versatility is key when incorporating new trends into your wardrobe so you get the most wear out of your new pieces.

Button-Down Dresses (with new details). Whether it’s off-center buttons or off-the-shoulder necklines, these subtle and beautiful updates to the button-down dress have caught our attention lately.

Dad Sneakers. They are The Ugly Shoe Trend’s latest star, and maybe you whispered, “But why?” when you set eyes on these chunky sneakers, but they’ve gained more and more popularity over the past year or so. While we’re certainly not strangers to The Ugly Shoe Trend—shout out to our dear old friends, Birkenstocks—we’re still questioning if a pair of dad sneakers deserve a spot in our closet. What do you think? Do you have a pair of dad sneakers?!

Ok, now it’s your turn to let us know what you think of these trends. Curious to hear your thoughts!

Four Fun Fashion Tips

Hey Fashomistas! Spring is finally here, but now that it is we don’t know what to wear! You can take some of your essential pieces or staples and do amazing things with them. You don’t necessarily have to buy something new to feel new. So, instead of Spring cleaning out your wardrobe. Let’s talk about Spring cleaning up your look.

Springing up your look with four fun fashion tips!

  1. Spring is here, so let’s bring the skirts back out! This tip is called the rule of the French: If the skirt is above the knee, wear flats. If the skirt is below the knee, wear heels! Obviously, it is up to your discretion, but the French know fashion!

1. Where are all the short Fashomistas at?! What we wouldn’t give to look a little longer, right? Here’s a trick. When you’re wearing jeans, cuff them. It’s so simple and seems superfluous, but trust us. You’ll thank us later and so will your little legs.

2.  Are you little in the middle? Do you have a small torso? Here’s another lengthening tip, try a v neck shirt for the illusion of a longer torso!

4. What woman doesn’t love jewelry?! Embellished or large hoop earrings look really nice on thinner face structures, while drop or dangle earrings look best in rounder face structures.

Spring Wardrobe Essentials

on March 21, 2018

Hey Fashomistas! Let’s talk wardrobes and the essentials to them. Winter is trying to hold on by a thread, but yesterday was the first official day of Spring. You know what that means right? Spring cleaning! Not just cleaning out your house, but to clean up your wardrobe; out with the old and in with the new.

Spring is the time for pastels as well as neutrals especially nudes, but we aren’t focusing on the colors this time. Let’s focus on the actual pieces and garments themselves. There are three trends that can take your Spring wardrobe whether for work or play to the next level! These three trends will spice up any wardrobe and can become staple pieces for the year.

The Belted Trouser

Sure you could get any pair of pants and grab a belt to go along with it, but the ready to wear belted trouser is currently trending this season. The best thing is that it could really be worn year-round. Flared or wide leg pants are also in so keep that in mind when you go shopping for these. The belted trouser can be worn with a nice blouse for work or for a date night with your boo.

The Button Up Blouse

This is a familiar piece, but don’t let its familiarity fool you. You may already own one of these, but don’t be afraid to try something a little different like patterns or color blocked button-ups. You could always keep it simple and chic with the plain Jane look. There’s nothing wrong with either option. You can dress it up for work with trousers or the classic pencil skirt, or give it some edge with a leather jacket. You can even keep it casual with a denim jacket over it.

The Midi Dress

Want to look long and lean? Then the midi dress is going to be your best friend! You can wear a midi for any occasion. For work pair it with a blazer and heels. Drinks after work anyone? Ditch the blazer, easy fix! Show of the curves with a bodycon and a slit or go for the sheath silhouette that isn’t so clingy.

If you like these wardrobe essentials but just don’t know where to get them or which styles you like the best or which would look the best on you, then download Fashom App and check out the styling feature. Ask your stylists for Spring wardrobe essentials on your next styling box.

Jewelry Trends 2018

on March 21, 2018

Hello Fashomistas! Who doesn’t love a little bling right? Bling is everything because diamonds are a woman’s best friend right? Jewelry can take a simple outfit to a chic outfit! It can also take your look from day to night. Jewelry is an accessory and an enhancer. It is made to frame and enhances the natural beauty we all as women possess. Be glam, be gorgeous, be-jeweled!

Here are a few jewelry trends to look out for this year! Most of them are familiar, but they are back and better than ever.

Anklets

Some of you are thinking, anklets are a thing of the past, right? I know it’s so 90s right, but didn’t you know there was a renaissance going on in fashion right now. Out with the old and in with the older! Dainty anklets are the thing to wear in the coming Spring and Summer seasons. Wear an anklet or multiple anklets (because layering is in) to the beach, the park, or even on a date! Go for a simple chain or sport some charms. Feeling tres chic then wear an anklet with diamonds or pearls on them!

Asymmetrical Earrings

Asymmetrical earrings? What’s that? Sounds weird right? Allow us to explain. It almost looks like you are missing an earring, but it’s made to look stylish. Miss-matched earrings are what they are essential. You can rock a short and a long one like the 80s again or a hoop and a stud. It’s yours to decide.

Statement Earrings

Fashion makes a statement of its own, but beauty and jewelry do just the same! Make a statement before you even open your mouth with a jewelry pop! Big earrings, long earrings, textures, colors, you name it! If it stands out it’s a statement earring!

Layered Necklaces

Chokers are out! 2017 drove them into the ground. However, they can be found in this trend. The layered look consists of a dainty short chain that fits like a choker and two different length longer chains. You can use simple dainty chains or chains with charms.

Gold and Brass Pinky and Midi Rings

Midi rings have been on a steady in the curve for the past couple of years. Rock a few or sport them on multiple fingers. Midi rings aren’t just for your ring, middle, and index fingers. Pinkies and thumbs deserve to be adorned too! Wear simple dainty bands or ones with jewels and charms.

The Oscar Winning Trends

on March 10, 2018

Hey there Fashomistas? Did any of you catch the Oscars on Sunday? Well, we did, and we have some trends for you! From all white to goddess-like to simple elegance to looking like an Oscar for ladies in red! The ladies of the red carpet did not disappoint. No wonder women have an entire month dedicated to them. Women are talented, beautiful, and look good while doing any and everything! Let’s all take a bow!

As we mentioned before there were many trends on the red carpet this year, but the five we want to hone in on are all white, the goddess look, simple elegance, looking like an Oscar, and the lady in red.

All White

Rapper Dej Loaf says that she rocks all white when she’s feeling godly. Well, these ladies looked like Heaven on Earth in their all-white wear. All white is an all year ‘round trend. From Spring to Winter all-white wear is a winner! It is bold and elegant. It is chic and sexy. You’ve heard of red-hot, but what about white hot? These ladies styles are definitely WHITE HOT!

“The Goddess Look”

Who doesn’t want to look and feel like a walking goddess? Every woman is a goddess in her own light. The ladies of the red carpet strutted their stuff in flowing fits and empire waistlines. They look like they belong in a sculpture in Greece!

Simple Elegance

You can’t go wrong with a classic look. The simple and elegant look puts your beauty on display! With barely any flashy distractions, simple elegance flatters the body with crisp, clean lines. Color is everything with simple elegance. Make sure to wear colors that look good with the undertones and color of your skin for a standout but subtle look.

“Looking Like An Oscar”

Have you ever seen an Oscar? It is a solid gold trophy mounted on a black platform. Some ladies were able to pull off the look. They looked like they were dipped in gold with shimmer and sparkle! You’ve gotta love this look!

Lady In Red

Red is the color of passion and love. It can be worn year ‘round much like white in different shades to fit the season. These ladies showed up to the red carpet and were RED HOT! Red is a sensual and yet graceful color. Red is a statement color and tends to speak for itself.

Pisces Women Style

on March 1, 2018

Hey there Fashomistas! Isn’t it crazy how you can dress and accessorize according to your zodiac?! We are in the zodiac of the Pisces right now. Pisces is from February 19th – March 20th. Pisces are known to be the most emotional and expressive zodiac there is. Pisces is the natural mermaid of all the signs. Pisces is the free-spirit, the hippie, the bohemian babe. Pisces is a water sign and loves going with the flow and not being restricted.

You can guess the Pisces probably don’t like pencil skirts or body con anything. You are better off catching a Pisces in a flowy sundress or a breezy A-line skirt. If a Pisces were to wear pants they would probably care for palazzos, flares, or bell bottoms. Pisces love to be free. The fewer accessories and layers of clothing, the better to them. They definitely don’t want to be weight down by heavy garments. You could catch Pisces in chiffon, jersey, cotton, silk/satin, etc.

Pisces love to feel and look otherworldly. They love pearlescent or iridescent garbs. Pisces love blues and purples of all hues, shades, and tints. It reminds them of the water. Pisces are no strangers to patterns. Pisces love to mix and match both patterns and colors. Pisces love complementary and analogous colors. Remember Pisces are free-spirited and something similar to a bohemian. Pisces is the zodiac sign that is said to have inspired Coachella. Think Solange in the Cranes in the Sky music video.

Pisces can be stuck in the 70s in their style. The 70s was a time of crazy prints, breezy dresses/skirts, and flared out pants. The 70s is a blur to most everyone, but we know as far as fashion is concerned it was a time of emancipation and invigoration. You can bet you could find a Pisces back in those days burning bras for feminism. A Pisces these days probably (on the more casual side when not at work) goes without a bra depending on the top. You would think that the Pisces would be an air sign and an Aquarius would be a water sign, but they are exactly the opposite. There is just something so free and passive about the water sign that is just not in the more controlled and somewhat aggressive air sign.

Aquarius Blog

on February 15, 2018

Alright Fashomistas, where are our Aquarius women at? Aquarius spans from 20 January to 18 February if you didn’t already know that. Aquarius is an air sign despite the fact that an Aquarius is often depicted as a water bearer or guardian. Aquarius is known as the independent sign. Aquarius tends to do what they want, when and where they want, with whomever they please, and how they want to do it. Aquarius could care less about your opinions about them. This is the makings of an amazing trendsetter.

If you think you can tell an Aquarius what to do, then you’re wrong. If you think that you can tell an Aquarius what to wear, then you are like ten times as wrong. Aquarius marches to the beat of their own drum. They are not trending sensitive. Most don’t even attempt to keep up with trends. They are footloose and fancy-free so they tend not to trouble themselves with the fashion cycle. They wear what they want when they want. An Aquarius is more interested in bending, breaking, and making their own set of fashion rules and standards.

Although Aquarius tends to be shy, their personal style will speak for them far before they ever have to open their mouths. Aquarius likes to play around with patterns. They love to mix and match them as well as colors. They aren’t relegated by coordination. They wear what they feel like looks best on them. Despite their shy demeanor, Aquarius is extremely confident. Aquarius does not try to fit in as they believe that they were born to stand out. It is almost impossible to peg Aquarius into a specific style of dress because they can tend to bounce around based on how there are feeling, what they like, or where they are going. One day an Aquarius may be boho and the next they may be minimal. They find freedom in these choices.

Here are some Aquarius inspired looks we created:
