The Power of Pants (A Grammy’s Tale)

on February 1, 2018

Did any of our Fashomistas catch the Grammys?! There was a lot controversy, a lot of talent, a lot to celebrate, but most importantly there was a lot of fashion and personal style! We love gorgeous evening gown, but there is just something powerful about a pants suit! There were several women on the red carpet this year that ditched the traditional dress routine and decided to embrace the powerful statement that pants or the lack thereof make!

Some of my favorite looks of the night included Eve, Anna Kendrick, Cyndi Lauper, Rapsody, Ava Max, Alessia Cara, Andra Day, Janelle Monae, Sibley Scoles and Erin Lim. Most of these women hail from the music world so it stands to reason that they would march to the beat of their own drum with their personal style! The fashion statements ladies made ranged from neutral to monochrome to patterns.

Now maybe you’re thinking, “Yes these looks are nice, but how do I bring these looks to life in my everyday life?” Fashom is here to help you with that. Here are some great trends and tips that you can follow in your everyday life whether you are a corporate woman, a fashionista, or a stay at home mom.

  1. Keep it neutral. You can’t go wrong with a neutral color. Neutrals are the backbone of every woman’s wardrobe. Take it from Alessia Cara. She looks like quite the casual chic chick in her Chucks and Chinos. If you’re a corporate woman you may want to keep it neutral, but don’t let it take away your style like Alessia.
  2. Ditch the pants. If you’re a stay at home mom you might like this next one. Check out Andra Day and Erin Lim. The suit jacket is there and we are loving it, but where are their pants?! Suit jackets as dresses! Talk about a life hack! Rushing to get ready for your date with the hubby? Forget the pants because you’re going to be styling and profiling tonight!

  1. 3. Monochrome head to toe. This was the style in the early 2000s, and it’s been making its way back for the last couple of years. Rapsody and Sibley Scoles did it right. They are in colors that fit their complexions, and they are popping! This style could work for the corporate woman, the fashionista, as well as the stay at home mom!

4. Patterns, patterns, and you guessed it more patterns! Eve, Anna Kendrick, Ava Max, Cyndi Lauper, and Janelle Monae all rocked different patterns on their pants and rocked it oh so well! If you are a fashionista and want to make a statement, then this is the look for you!

Not so traditional? Love to make a statement? You may find the power in pants! Need help finding a style that’s right for you? Download Fashom App, and check out our new stylist feature! Our stylists will personally style you and have the pieces sent to your doorstep!

Now that’s powerful!
